Your Donation Matters

We've taken anywhere from 40-56 8th-12th grade students on our tours every year since we started. Many of these students, like Jay, need support beyond what their families can provide.

Jay's Story

Initially discouraged by family challenges including caring for his gravely ill mother and siblings, Jay reluctantly joined a tour at his stepmother's urging, despite having no desire to attend college. During the tour, Jay became an unexpected source of encouragement for other students, sharing his positive journey through writing as an outlet. He actively engaged with tour guides, asking questions not only for himself but also to ensure his peers received the information they needed. Jay's willingness to share his dreams while learning about historical institutions demonstrated to our team his potential for success. Jay decided to apply to colleges we visited. He was ultimately accepted to all seven schools he applied to and is currently attending an HBCU.

PWY is a community-based youth initiative established by Petite Affairs Creative Events to meet the needs of students seeking more knowledge of the HBCU academic and campus experience. Our mission is to encourage pursuit of an HBCU education, however PWY believes promoting academic achievement at any institute for higher learning is essential for our rising generations. The PWY HBCU Tour team consists of local coaches, teachers, parents and community business owners.

We need your help to continue our mission by investing in our students through this tour.
