Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) were founded primarily with the fundamental mission of providing quality educational opportunities to African Americans, who were often legally and socially excluded from predominantly white colleges and universities.

Promoting Wisdom In Youth (PWY) is a community-based youth initiative established by Petite Affairs Creative Events to meet the needs of students seeking more knowledge of the HBCU academic and campus experiences. The HBCU Tour is the cornerstone event bringing the PWY vision to life. While PWY promotes academic achievement at any learning institute, the mission of PWY is to actively explore the historical and current significance of the HBCU experience.

 

Beyond offering academic instruction, HBCUs also serve as vital cultural centers, nurturing environments for Black identity, leadership development, and social activism, playing a crucial role in the advancement and empowerment of the Black community. Today, HBCUs continue to be essential in addressing educational disparities, fostering a sense of belonging, and producing a significant number of Black professionals and leaders across many fields.
